Cardboard wizardry and animation by Me
with Thanks to Armley Mills Industrial Museum, Leeds
Having previously worked with the band to create the music video for their ode to David Attenborough (beware its an ear worm and a half) I was given the most open of briefs for this - an early copy of their new album, with an invitation to choose something I'd like to work with. Yes Please and Thankyou. I really could have picked so many of the songs but this was where the choice eventually fell, a song about The British Cactus and Succulent Society. Yes they know we made it, and yes I imagine they think we're lunatics.
There's a verse of the song that lists species using their latin names and the models included in the video are all versions of these real life cacti and succulents, plus a few extra. I do love including a detail that 99.9% of people don't even clock. It's like a reward for those in the know. Hope you noticed them club members.
Just a heap of stills, animation tests and behind the scenes. Because details get lost in a 5 minute video.
(if you click on any of them they'll expand and you can scroll through them all at a better size)
and a couple of animation test scenes/cuts/segment/bits that got chopped or sped up - incase you'd like to commission a wee short animated something I can do that now I've tackled 5 minutes of it I think - just give me shout. Perhaps the wrong order to be learning but nothing like a baptism of fire.
